We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty the Queen on Thursday 8 September. On this very sad occasion, we extend our deepest condolence to His Majesty King Charles and all the members of the Royal Family. Queen Elizabeth’s devotion to duty was an example to us all and we thank God for her life of Christian service. We pray that Almighty God will comfort the Royal Family who have lost a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, but also people in the United Kingdom and around the world who have lost an inspiring figure held in true affection. In particular, we remember those who mourn her passing in the Commonwealth which she loved so dearly.
A lot will be happening in the country over the next few weeks as the nation mourns the passing of Her late Majesty. We are likely to be closing the Church Centre and Bridge when Her Majesty’s funeral will take place as a mark of respect. A minute’s silence in remembrance of the Queen will be held during our service on Sunday morning, and tomorrow a prayer meeting will take place at the Church Centre. Details will be included in a special bulletin going out to the congregation tomorrow. A Book of Condolence will be opened in the Gathering Area which will be sent to Buckingham Palace ahead of the funeral.
May Her Majesty rest in peace and rise in glory.
