The Sunday morning services from 25 September to 6 November (inclusive) are the key mechanism for pulling together the many different elements of the campaign. Each Sunday, the message and aim of the service will be to synthesize all that has been happening in the past week and to introduce and explain the theme of the next week. Based on whole church participation, through individual daily devotions, small groups and through the weekly memory verse, this is designed to have a powerful impact. Each week, our Minister, John Walford, will be basing his sermon on the key messages of the campaign, namely the five purposes that God has for our lives. The content will be adapted from Pastor Rick Warren's outline, but given a context and style that is appropriate for our congregation.
Recognising that we all have different styles in communication and worship, there will be a number of creative ways of delivering and reinforcing the message. For instance, for those who prefer the written word, sermon outline notes will be available which will help people to focus on the key message, and provide clarity and reference for the week ahead. Each week will use worship songs with lyrics and melodies that relate to the theme, and as the campaign builds momentum, personal testimonies will be delivered. Our visual communications, through banners and notice boards will have relevant eye-catching impact.
We also aim to use drama and art as much as possible, to illustrate and expand the principles behind the message. And to mark the end of the campaign, we plan a Celebration Day (6 November), to bring together all that we have learnt and to point us ahead to where God is next taking us, individually and as a church community.
